Cultural Work: Ongoing. There's no monolith, no one way... cautionary tales on my mind...audio isn't an exact match for the text so please read and listen. Thank you!
Cultural inclusion, sensitivity, awareness, competence, reparations, reckonings, vulnerability, understanding that perfect justice is unattainable, but worth the greatest effort…
I’m such a fan of Tyson Yunkaporta and Emergence Magazine has a new interview up with him. Had a very powerful dream last night and then woke up to read this, “Opening us to long-term thinking, in which Lore, technology, and story are cared for intergenerationally, Tyson urges us to consider how we might begin to sow the seeds of cautionary tales that will carry us into an uncertain future.”
For awhile, there was a real crisis point where internet influencers (many of whom are writers) were taking on an attitude of My Way or the Highway, and I was having trouble figuring out how to navigate it without getting myself in the hottest kind of water.
This is, of course, a massive topic that is ongoing in my work as a teacher and a writer, even before I finished Narrow River, Sid Sky. This post is part of writing material that I’m working on for the next book. I feel so fortunate to be writing during this era of the human story. Fortunate and terrified.
i just finished listening to that same interview. want to go back and read the transcript because so much in there! place-time and more. 🌀
